The Sabarmati Report Day 7 Box Office Collection: Vikrant Massey's Political Drama Fails at the Box Office

The Sabarmati Report is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language political drama film by Dheeraj Sarna. Jointly produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production, this film gained mediocre reviews and box office collections after its release. The film, which is based on the tragic Godhra train burning incident of 2002, has a quite talented cast that includes Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Riddhi Dogra. The movie has not so far been able to gain the confidence of the audience and critics both. That's why it displayed a disappointing first week.

While the subject of The Sabarmati Report was very interesting and performances rocked, it did not work out at the box office quite the way one had expected. The collections were dull right from day one and there was a week-on-week growth over the weekend. Then came the week day that sank.

The movie has been made at a low price of ₹20 crore. Even with over 50% coverage of its costs within the first week of the movies, The Sabarmati Report has to pull up its socks much higher on the second week to be in a position of break-even. However, going by its sluggish pace and inability to catch audience attention, the movie will fail to achieve its target.

Vikrant Massey has played the role of Samar Kumar while Raashii Khanna and Riddhi Dogra have played a very important role as Amrita Gill and Manika Rajpurohit respectively. This movie is also supported by cameo from Barkha Singh along with Sundip Ved, Digvijay Purohit, and Nazneen Patni. With such a fine performance, somehow the whole screenplay and execution did not get a lifelong impression.

Critics appreciated the film's intent to tackle a sensitive and important topic but criticized its uneven storytelling and lack of emotional depth. The audience response was mixed, with many finding the narrative overly simplistic for a story of this magnitude.

 At ₹11.5 crore in the first week, The Sabarmati Report needs a miracle to remain alive in theaters and turn profitable. The second week would ascertain if it could recover from its poor theatrical journey, but the trend at the moment does not seem to augur well.

  While the Sabarmati Report had its heart in the right place, and with not much of a compelling storyline, the audience engagement was minimal, which made the movie lackluster at the box office.
